Veteran Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra reacted to a heartfelt message posted by Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal for him after he failed to attract a bid in the IPL 2022 auction that concluded on February 13 in Bengaluru.

The IPL 2022 auction, that took place in Bengaluru, concluded with 290 players being sold to 10 different franchises and over ₹550 crores being spent. While the event gave happy moments to many players, there was also some sadness as some of the stalwarts of the IPL failed to attract a bid.

One such big name was Amit Mishra, who was a part of Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2021 and the franchise didn’t bid for him in the mega auction. The 39-year-old has been a prolific wicket-taker in the league with 166 wickets to his name from 154 games at an average of 23.95 and an economy rate of 7.4.

He is also the only bowler to take three hat-tricks in the Indian Premier League.

Mishra has represented Delhi Capitals for a major part of his IPL career. He also has played for now-defunct Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

As Amit Mishra went unsold in the IPL 2022 auction, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal posted a heartfelt message for the leg-spinner on his official Twitter account. He said that the team would love to have him back in whatever capacity they could.

"To one of the @IPL greats @MishiAmit we @DelhiCapitals would like to salute everything you have done for us over all these years and would love to have you back at DC in whatever capacity you see fit as your insights would be most valuable. Mishy bhai DC is yours for life,” Parth Jindal Tweeted.

Reacting to this, Amit Mishra said that he’s truly humbled and is not finished yet and can add to the legacy of the Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals bought 20 players in the IPL 2022 auction. The Rishabh Pant-led side spent INR 47.40 crores on the event. Some big names included David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, amongst others.
