"I just want to thank Chennai, the fans, the staff and management, and players for what has been a decade as one team. We created a lot of special memories and it's important for me to say 'thank you.
I've enjoyed my time a lot, I miss everyone there. But if one door closes and a new one opens up and that comes up with great opportunities and I'm excited to see what the future holds," said Du Plessis in a video posted by CSK.
Faf du Plessis had made his IPL debut in 2011 for the Chennai Super Kings and then played for Rising Pune Super Giant as well. In all, he has 2935 runs in 100 IPL matches with a highest score of 96 at an average of 34.94 and a strike rate of 131.08.
Many pundits and fans expect him to become the captain at the RCB franchise, who also have Glenn Maxwell and Virat Kohli in leadership positions.
RCB also shared a video clip of Faf du Plessis saying: "To everyone at RCB, I am really excited to start what will be a new chapter in my life with a new team. Thank you very much to RCB management yesterday for picking me up at the auction and putting their faith in me.
It's exciting... the opportunity about what the future holds with RCB. I will bring everything I have to the table to try and make sure we get the silverware into the franchise. Look forward to meeting you all soon."
