IPL 2022: R Ashwin names the 'uncapped' player who can trigger a bidding war

R Ashwin said the bidding war for the youngster he named could be like the one for him in IPL 2011 auction.

India spinner R Ashwin believes fast bowler Avesh Khan can attract a lot of franchisees in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) mega-auction. He could possibly trigger a bidding war due to his potential.

Avesh had shared the dressing room with Ashwin while playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the previous IPL seasons. DC let both of them go ahead of the mega-auction as they retained Rishabh Pant, Akshar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje.

Ashwin recalled the bidding war for him in the IPL 2011 mega-auction. There was a competition between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the off-spinner, which the former won.

“There is definitely going to be a bidding war for Avesh Khan. No doubt about that. Guarantee. Just like how Vijay Mallya fought for me with CSK in 2010, I can picture a Parth Jindal or a Kiran Rao fighting it out for Avesh Khan this year. With whom will they fight? Well, that might be any team,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Avesh backed 24 wickets in the last season and ended as the second most wicket-taker of the tournament after RCB's Harshal Patel. The youngster has a base price of INR 20 lakh for the auction being an uncapped player.
