Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane has stated that his record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is very good and he is looking forward to the IPL 2022 auction.

Having played more than 150 matches in IPL, Ajinkya Rahane is one of the most experienced batters in the league. The right-hander has set himself a base price of INR 1 crore for the IPL 2022 auction.

Rahane played for Mumbai Indians in the initial phase of his career and was later roped in by Rajasthan Royals in 2011. The right-hander has been a prolific run-getter for the franchise with 2,810 runs at an average of 34.26 and a strike rate of 122.65 in 100 matches for them. He also captained the franchise in 24 matches. He was picked up by Rising Pune Supergiants for two seasons when Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the league.

The Mumbaikar then in 2020 was bought by Delhi Capitals for two seasons but was not retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022. He didn’t play many matches for the franchise due to their star-studded batting line-up.

In an interaction with veteran journalist Boria MajumdarAjinkya Rahane said that his IPL record is good, especially for Rajasthan Royals. He added that with Delhi Capitals he didn’t get much game time but he’s confident.

“I don’t talk about myself, but my IPL record is really good. Especially for Rajasthan Royals, I’ve played 7-8 years, did well. I didn’t get much game time in the last 2 years, but I’m confident. For me, it’s all about playing matches, it’s all about playing consistently in white-ball cricket. So, I’m looking forward to that," Ajinkya Rahane said.

Ajinkya Rahane further said that he wants to give his best and play regularly. He highlighted that whichever team he plays for in the IPL will be the platform for him to express his talent.

“I want to play cricket, this is my passion and I want to give my best. So, that is my priority. Whatever comes after that it’s not in my control. But, I want to play games regularly and keep contributing, whichever team I play for and IPL is the platform, you can express your talent and express yourself and it is the biggest platform," he said.

Although Ajinkya Rahane hasn’t been in great form of late but his experience will be vital for any team he plays. The right-hander is likely to fetch a decent amount at the IPL 2022 auction, which will take place on 12th and 13th February in Bengaluru.
