Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj revealed the first thing he bought after being roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2017 auction.

Coming from a humble background, Mohammed Siraj’s turnaround is remarkable. From being trolled for his performances to becoming one of the match-winners for India, the pacer arguably has been one of the best finds for Team India in recent times.

Siraj’s journey in IPL started after he was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2017 auction for INR 2.60 Crores. The right-arm pacer was impressive in his debut season as he scalped 10 wickets to his name.

After having a decent first season in the tournament, Siraj was then roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for INR 2.20 crore in IPL 2018 auction. Since then he has only risen in ranks and has been a vital member of the franchise.

He performed reasonably well for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 both at the start and at the death and was also retained by the franchise for a whopping amount of INR 7 crores ahead of IPL 2022.

Speaking on the RCB Podcast, Mohammed Siraj said that the first thing he bought after being picked in the IPL auction was an iPhone 7 Plus mobile phone and after that, he purchased a second-hand car.

He highlighted that car was important for him being an IPL player and he asked his cousin to drive the vehicle for him as he didn’t knew how to drive.

"First thing I bought was iPhone 7 Plus, then bought a second-hand car, Corolla. Car is important because IPL players need to have a car. For how long could I have pushed a Platina but I did not know how to drive. Then I asked my uncle's son to drive me since he knew how to drive,” Mohammad Siraj said.

Siraj revealed that his car did not have air conditioning and he drove with the windows down. He said that the public started waving and chanting his name and he couldn’t raise the glasses back due to heat.

"Once we went to a function and realized that Corolla doesn't even have air conditioning, so we had to put the glasses of the window down. And the public started waving Siraj, Siraj !. We could not even raise the glasses as it was so hot. Then next year, I bought a Mercedes,” he said.
