Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill | BCCI/IPLIn a major development, the new IPL franchise from Ahmedabad has signed Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill for the upcoming edition of the league, ESPNCricinfo reported on Monday (January 17).

According to the report, Ahmedabad have decided to pay Hardik and Rashid a whopping INR 15 crore each while Gill will get INR 7 crore.

Hardik and Rashid have a lot of experience, having turned up for Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad previously.  While Pandya was part of the MI set-up since 2015 after being picked for a mere INR 10 lakh, Rashid was playing for SRH since 2017 and he was bought for INR 4 crore.

Ahead of the 2018 mega auction, Hardik and Rashid were retained by MI and SRH for INR 11 crore and INR 9 crore respectively. This time, however, the situation is a lot different. While Pandya wasn’t retained the Mumbai-based franchise, Rashid decided to enter into the auction even though Sunrisers were interested to retain his services.

On the other hand, the 22-year-old Gill spent his first four IPL seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He was bought for INR 1.8 crore in the IPL 2018 auction after his heroics in the Under-19 World Cup for India.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad franchise has also zeroed in on its coaching staff.

Former India pacer Ashish Nehra will perform the role of head coach while ex-South Africa opener Gary Kirsten will also be part of the set-up. Former England batter Vikram Solanki is set to become the team director.

The trio of Nehra, Kirsten and Solanki have previously worked together at RCB.
