Sunrisers Hyderabad are receiving flak for not treating David Warner fairly.

Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has posted a cryptic tweet after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got a lot of flak over releasing their ex-captain David Warner ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Warner was already removed from captaincy and playing eleven in the middle of the IPL 2021.

There was criticism of SRH for not treating Warner well, but Irfan believes the franchise shouldn't be slammed as they supported the Aussie batter when his own cricket board had banned him.

"Ppl who is questioning a franchise decision about a foreign player should also remember that the same franchise supported him when his own country banned him to play!", tweeted Irfan.

Warner had led the franchise to an IPL win in 2016, and he is also the highest run-getter for SRH with 4014 runs in 95 matches. He thanked the fans for their support while bidding goodbye to the franchise on social media.

SRH have retained Kane Williamson for INR 14 crores and he will continue to lead the side in the upcoming season. Apart from the Kiwis, Abdul Samad (INR 4 crores) and pacer Umran Malik (INR 4 crores) are the other two uncapped SRH members to get retained.
