IPL 2022: WATCH -"Looking forward to what the future holds"- Agarwal after being retained by PBKS

Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Mayank Agarwal said that he’s happy and delighted to be retained by the franchise and is looking forward to what the future holds for him in the IPL 2022. 

The preparations for the IPL 15 have already started as eight existing teams announced the list of their retained players on Tuesday (30th November). While some were quite predictable choices, there were many surprises as well. 

Coming to the Punjab Kings, the franchise surprised many as they retained only two players in Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh while leaving out some big names like Chris Gayle, Mohammad Shami, and Nicholas Pooran.

Notably, captain KL Rahul himself informed the franchise that he wanted to go to the auction.

Mayank Agarwal, who was retained by Punjab Kings for a whopping price of INR 14 crores, said that he’s delighted to be back with the franchise, and ever since joining the team in 2018 he has created terrific and fond memories. 

"I am happy and delighted to be back with the Punjab Kings family. I've been part of the Punjab Kings family since 2018 and we've had some terrific moments and created some really fond memories," Mayank Agarwal said in a video posted on Punjab Kings' Twitter handle. 

Agarwal further said that he’s looking forward to playing for the franchise again and is excited to play in Mohali in front of the fans. 

"I'm really looking forward to what the future holds and I'm also really looking forward to playing in Mohali in front of our fans. Here's to creating more memories together," he said. 

Mayank Agarwal has been one of the top run-getters for Punjab Kings since he joined the franchise in 2018. The opening batter has scored 1317 runs for the franchise in 47 innings at a staggering strike rate of 144.25 to go with 8 half-centuries and one century. 

Punjab Kings can also hand Mayank Agarwal the captaincy and It remains to be seen what decisions will franchise take after IPL 2022 auction.
