With Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the big final of IPL 2021, all the fans and pundits started picking the winners of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.
The former India cricketer Ashish Nehra is one of them as he believes CSK will have the edge over KKR considering the former are just better at playing the situation.
“One of CSK’s strengths is that they come into the game with a strategy, but depending on how the game is going, they are better at playing the situation more than other teams. So that will be a challenge for KKR,” Nehra told Cricbuzz.

The left-arm quick then went on to talk about how it won’t be easy for CSK since the KKR spinners Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Shakib Al Hasan have been really good throughout the tournament and will definitely create problems for the three-time champions.
“Those eight overs, and if Shakib al Hasan bowls all four overs, then it will definitely be 12 difficult overs, but if there is one team that can tackle their spinners on the big ground in Dubai, it’s Chennai Super Kings. I think Mumbai Indians can as well, but they are not here,” the ex-cricketer said.
“Because if you look at Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, they would prefer playing Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy over the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje,” Nehra concluded.
Nehra’s former India teammate Virender Sehwag agreed with him that CSK will be a bit concerned about tackling those 8 crucial overs from Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine.
IPL 2021: Final, CSK v KKR- COC Predicted Playing XIs
“CSK will think that their chances against Delhi Capitals would have been better. It would be a bit more of an even contest against KKR, because in the middle overs, the spinners – Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine – they don’t let you score very easily,” Sehwag said.
“So they would have probably found it easier to score against DC, whether it’s their spinners or pacers, but against KKR, they will be concerned about how to tackle those eight overs,” the cricketer-turned-commentator further added.
Thus, it will be exciting to see if CSK manages to win their fourth IPL title or whether the Kolkata-based franchise continues their record of winning every IPL final they’ve played as the two teams go head-to-head tonight (13 October) in Dubai.
