Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has picked the winner of the IPL 2021 final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Steyn said Super Kings have a better chance of winning the title than KKR.

While Chennai made it to the final after winning Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals (DC), KKR defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore and then DC to secure a spot in the final.

Kolkata were struggling in the first half of the IPL 2021 with only 2 wins in 7 matches, but they came back strongly in the second phase and won five more matches.

The Eoin Morgan-led side finished at fourth position in the points table due to their net run rate which left the defending champions Mumbai Indians at number 5 spot. But Steyn believes KKR may struggle against CSK who are very calm at the moment.

“I kind of have always played numbers. It’s like going to a casino. If it lands on black 10 times in a row then at some point red’s going to hit. I just feel that at some point KKR’s luck is going to catch up to them. Bad decisions and lack of form of Morgan and DK that kind of stuff is going to catch up to them. It almost did tonight and it might happen at the worst time and that’s the final,” Steyn told ESPN Cricinfo.

“CSK look good, really calm. They look like they kind of have got going up in the right direction at the right time. Dhoni looked good the other night, he's captained his team well. Their batters are looking good... I just think that KKR might come against a better team in the final,” he added.

In the previous two clashes between CSK and KKR, Dhoni and co have emerged winners both times this season. CSK will look to take revenge of the IPL 2012 where KKR had got better of them in the final.
