MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scripted an epic comeback in IPL as they went from not qualifying for playoffs last year (IPL 2020) to becoming the first team to confirm their spot in the final of IPL 2021.
While the CSK skipper Dhoni turned back the clock and finished the game for his team in the back end, the right-hand batter Robin Uthappa (63) along with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (70) played brilliantly to steady their ship after losing Faf du Plessis early.
Speaking about the Qualifier 1 against Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday (10 October) in Dubai, Uthappa claimed that this Chennai-based franchise is the most secure franchise after Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
“I always maintain that this (CSK) has been one of the most secure franchises going around, and they believe in making everyone feel secure within the group, and I think that only makes a player give that much more to the franchise,” the right-hand batter said after CSK entered the final of IPL 2021.

The 35-year-old then talked about playing for Gambhir’s KKR and his time there as compared to here in Dhoni-led CSK.
“After KKR, when Gautam was the captain, I really enjoyed myself there and felt secure in that group, but after that, this is the most secure I’ve felt while playing cricket in a while,” Uthappa said.
Uthappa who played a crucial knock of 63 runs off 44 balls which included 7 boundaries and 2 maximums, dedicated this knock to his son who turned four when CSK locked horns with DC on Sunday (10 October).
As far as DC is concerned, they will be facing the winner of tonight’s (11 October) Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday (13 October) at Sharjah.
