IPL 2021: ‘Mood within camp is quite confident’, KKR skipper Eoin Morgan ahead of Eliminator

KKR had won only two out of the seven games during the first half of IPL 2021.

Eoin Morgan | BCCI/IPLReflecting on Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) fantastic turnaround in the second phase of IPL 2021, skipper Eoin Morgan on Sunday (October 10) said it has a lot to do with the pleasant mood in the camp.

KKR had won only two out of the seven games during the first half of IPL 2021 but the side bounced back strongly in the UAE leg to qualify for the playoffs.

"It's been a fantastic turnaround, I would say in results and our performances have been consistently good and I think the mood within the camp is quite confident. We are looking forward to tomorrow game," Morgan said in a video shared by KKR.

Commenting on Andre Russell's injury, Morgan said, "I think after training today we will see how he has progressed and we will then speak to the medical staff and see how he goes tomorrow."

Knight Riders will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator of IPL 2021 at Sharjah on Monday (October 11).

"RCB is a good side on paper they are very strong and it is going to be a challenge tomorrow. The middle order of RCB is very strong as there are very big names," the captain said.

Morgan also mentioned that his team has adapted brilliantly to the change in conditions at Sharjah.

"Sharjah wickets have surprised everyone and certainly our guys have adapted well. So hoping that's the same," he added.

In their last league match, KKR had thrashed Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 86 runs at Sharjah to secure their place in the IPL 2021 playoffs.

Asked to bat first, Kolkata had posted 171/4 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of Shubman Gill’s 44-ball 56 and Venkatesh Iyer’s 35-ball 38.

In reply, the Royals were bowled out for a paltry 85 in 16.1 overs. Shivam Mavi (4-21), Lockie Ferguson (3-18) and Varun Chakravarthy (1-14) starred with the ball for KKR.
