Australian cricketer David Warner on Friday (October 8) shared a post on Instagram, which suggests that he and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are parting ways after the IPL 2021 season.
SRH, first team to out of the IPL 2021 playoffs race, are currently playing their last league match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Abu Dhabi. Just like the previous five games, Warner isn’t part of SRH’s playing XI versus MI as well.
As soon as the match started, the southpaw took to Instagram and wrote: “Thank You for the memories created. To all the fans, you have been a driving force for our team always to give 100%. I can’t thank you all enough for the support shown. It’s been a great ride. My family and I are going to miss you all!! #respect #cricket #hyderabad One last effort today.”
Despite leading the franchise to the IPL title win in 2016, David Warner has been at the receiving end of some tough decisions taken by the SRH management this year. He was removed as captain midway through the first phase of IPL 2021 in India.
Notably, the BCCI is set to add two new teams for the IPL 2022 season. Also, there will be a mega auction with the board likely to allow only three retentions per team.
Considering the treatment meted out to David Warner this year, it is unlikely that the Sunrisers will retain him ahead of the mega auction.
