Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) handed a debut to Umran Malik in the 49th match of the IPL 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Dubai on Sunday (October 3). He was drafted into the squad as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for T Natarajan.

Taking to Twitter, SRH’s star spinner Rashid Khan on Monday (October 4) shared a video in which Umran got a big surprise from his team as his family members wished him all the best through a video message displayed on a big screen at the hotel.
The gesture got the better of Umran's emotions and he ended up crying in the presence of his teammates.
Umran Malik impressed one and all with his searing pace on IPL debut. He made life difficult for the KKR batsmen during his four-over spell.
Umran consistently bowled over 140 kph and three of his deliveries also touched the 150 kph mark. In fact, he clocked two deliveries over 150 kph on the speed gun and his fastest ball was 151.03.
As a result, Umran is now the only Indian in the top ten for this season to deliver the fastest balls. He eventually returned with the figures of 0/27 in his four overs.
