Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Glenn Maxwell is having a terrific form in the ongoing IPL. On Sunday (October 3), he smashed a third-consecutive half-century in the IPL 2021 second phase against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Last season, Maxwell was with Punjab and he scored only 108 runs in 12 matches with an average of 15.42. But his performance has been on a different level this season with 407 runs in 12 matches at an average of 40.70.

Speaking after his 33-ball 57 runs knock against PBKS, Maxwell said RCB have used him very well and assigned him the same role he does for Australia. “Coming into RCB they wanted me to do the exact same role like I am playing with Australia,” he said.

Maxwell further spoke on his decision to go after the spinners and said, “Sharjah is probably the most difficult to adjust to. The spinners get it to skid on which means you have to be sharper at the start of your innings. Came in at a nice time to bat. Lucky to hit the first couple of risks out of the middle."

The Australia cricketer lauded opening pair of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Paddikal for setting up a good platform for the batters to come.

“To have it set up by the openers today gave us some time to get an idea of the wicket,” he said.

Maxwell added that he has batted much better in the IPL in these two years. “I feel like the last two years of IPL I have batted nicely,” he added.

With a win against Punjab by 6 runs, Bangalore sealed their spot in the playoffs. They will now be eyeing the top 2 spots, which is currently occupied by Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
