IPL 2021: Skipper Eoin Morgan says KKR have done well to adapt to slow conditions

KKR got two important points with a 6-wicket win over SRH.

KKR restricted SRH to 115/8 in their 20 oversThe Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played brilliantly on the slow Sharjah wicket as not only did they restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to 115/8 in their 20 overs, but also chased it down in the last over to earn 2 vital points in match 49 of IPL 2021.

KKR skipper Eoin Morgan was delighted with his side’s performance on a bowling conducive wicket and lavished praises on opening batter Shubman Gill for how well he adapted on this slow track.

The wicket played slower than we thought than the wicket two nights ago. It swings early in the powerplay in these conditions, but it was sluggish. We needed to bowl and field well and we did,” Morgan said during the post-match presentation.

Shubman played extremely well and led the chase. The depth of the squad to be able to call Shakib is a huge luxury, so he has had a huge impact. We didn't know it wouldn't be played in India, and we have done well in the conditions and adapted well,” he added.

KKR even though needed to get just 116 in 20 overs, SRH bowlers ensured to battle it out for a win but ended up falling a few runs short of a competitive total.

We are focussed on playing good cricket and we've done that in the last three weeks. The game plan has had a good impact in the dressing room and guys are putting their hands up. We have done well to adapt to the slow conditions and I'm happy with that,” the left-handed Eoin Morgan said.

With these important 2 points, KKR is now on the fourth spot with 12 points to their name with their final league stage match scheduled against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday (7 October) at the same venue in Sharjah.
