Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns in the 49th match of IPL 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (October 3).
Opting to bat first, SRH posted a paltry 115/8 in 20 overs. It was a listless batting performance as none of them managed to touch the 30-run mark. Skipper Kane Williamson was the top scorer with 21-ball 26.
For KKR, Tim Southee (2-26), Varun Chakravarthy (2-26), and Shivam Mavi (2-29) starred with the ball, claiming two scalps each in their four-over quota.
In reply, Knight Riders rode on opener Shubman Gill’s half-century (57 off 51 balls) to overhaul the target with six wickets in hand and two balls to spare. Nitish Rana (25) and Dinesh Karthik (18 not out) also chipped in with handy contributions with the bat.
With this victory, KKR retained their fourth position on the points table and the Eoin Morgan-led side is still in contention for the playoffs.
