IPL 2021: Pat Cummins reveals why he didn’t come for UAE leg of IPL; KKR teammates react

Cummins played 7 games in IPL 2021 in India, picking 9 wickets and making a fifty.

Pat Cummins | BCCI-IPLAustralia pace bowler Pat Cummins was one of the biggest foreign players to opt-out of the second part of the IPL 2021 which is being played in UAE. It was a huge setback for the Eoin Morgan-led franchise, as Cummins had done very well with both the bat and the ball during the first half which was held in India.

Cummins was the most expensive foreign buy in the IPL 2020 when KKR bought him for INR 15.50 crores. He did well to pick 12 wickets in 14 matches and also scored 146 runs with one-half century. In IPL 2021, He picked 9 wickets in 7 matches for KKR and scored another half-century, his highest IPL score of 66*.

However, Pat Cummins was one of the worst affected players as well as he had to stay in a 14-day quarantine on returning to Australia before he had spent two weeks in the Maldives with other Australian players.

At that time, his wife was pregnant, and sometime later after when the IPL 2021 was shifted to UAE by the BCCI and dates were announced, Cummins confirmed that he will not return for the remainder of the tournament, without giving any official reason.

However, now Cummins has given a funny reason for not coming back to IPL 2021’s UAE leg on his Instagram by posting two photos. “The real reason I didn’t come back for the second half of IPL..,” Cummins captioned the post.
