Punjab Kings' (PBKS) young spinner Ravi Bishnoi has admitted that bowling a googly first up is difficult but he has worked on his googly and that paid off against Suryakumar Yadav in the 42nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) on Tuesday (September 28).

He dismissed Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma for just 8 runs while bowled out Suryakumar for a duck in his very first ball that he bowled googly, though the Punjab Kings (PBKS) could not defend the total of 136 and lost the game by six wickets to MI in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Bishnoi during a virtual post-match press conference: “They (overseas players) are trying their best in the nets, they want to perform. It is a matter of time but they are giving their best for the team. In both the matches, I kept it simple, I bowled wicket-to-wicket.”

On why he bowled googly against Yadav, the spinner said: “The ball I bowled to Suryakumar, I knew it was his first ball so I bowled a googly. It is difficult to play googly first up. I have worked on my googly.”

For PBKS, Bishnoi snared 2 wickets while Nathan Ellis and Mohammad Shami returned with one wicket each as Hardik Pandya (40*) and Saurabh Tiwary (45) took the MI over the line with 6 balls to spare.

At the moment, PBKS is ranked 6th while MI is fifth on the IPL 14 points table with 8 and 10 points respectively. The MI will next face Delhi Capitals on October 2 in Sharjah and PBKS will lock horns against Kolkata Knight Riders on October 1 in Dubai.
