IPL 2021: "Unfortunately won't be again", David Warner hints end of stint with SRH after this season

Warner has been at the receiving end of some tough decisions taken by the SRH management this year.

David Warner | BCCI/IPLAustralian cricketer David Warner on Monday (September 27) hinted that the ongoing IPL season will be his last with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – the franchise whom he led to the title win in 2016.

The southpaw has been at the receiving end of some tough decisions taken by the SRH management this year. He was removed as captain midway through the first phase of IPL 2021 in India and has been axed from SRH’s playing XI twice, with the latest one coming against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Dubai on Monday.

Some of the fans were left disappointed with the team management’s decision to drop Warner and they expressed their frustration on SRH’s Instagram page.

When a fan tagged Warner and wrote: “Daveyyyy I’m crying take some rest give a power-packed comeback buddy”, the veteran opener replied: “unfortunately won’t be again but keep supporting please”.

Notably, the BCCI is set to take the IPL to a different level next year by adding two new teams. Also, there will be a mega auction with the board likely to allow only three retentions per team.

With the treatment meted out to David Warner this year, it is unlikely that the Sunrisers will retain him ahead of the IPL 2022 auction.
