Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ended their 7-match losing streak in UAE on Sunday (26 September) as they handed the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) a 54-run loss in match 39 of IPL 2021 at Dubai.
While RCB quick Harshal Patel starred with the ball, picking his maiden IPL hat-trick, Australia's Glenn Maxwell returned a brilliant all-around performance.
Adjudged as the Player of the Match, Maxwell a fantastic knock of 56 (36) which consisted of 6 boundaries and 3 maximums against a quality MI bowling attack. When it came to bowling, the Aussie picked two important scalps of Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya.
While speaking in the post-match presentation, the right-handed Maxwell talked about the importance of Virat Kohli (51) and Srikar Bharat’s (32) knocks which got steadied RCB’s batting innings after losing opener Devdutt Padikkal early.

“It was a nice day. We pretty much did everything right tonight. Virat and KS got us through the powerplay and set up a platform for us. I have worked on it a lot over the years and it has become a strength for me. I wanted to cash in hitting to the shorter side with the wind going that way as well,” Maxwell said.
When asked about his bowling, the 32-year-old credited that the pre-season with Victoria for the rewards he is receiving currently as he worked on his bowling there.
“To be able to have a full pre-season with my stateside Victoria, put in a lot of work on my bowling and starting to see the rewards now. Hopefully, people can stay safe, get vaccinated and we can travel around the world again and be nice and free,” the RCB cricketer Glenn Maxwell concluded.
The Virat Kohli and Co. will now be facing Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next match on Wednesday (29 September) at the same venue in Dubai.
