IPL 2021: Not much you can do when Jadeja plays like that- KKR skipper Eoin Morgan

KKR lost their first match in the UAE-leg of IPL 2021.

Ravindra Jadeja scored vital 22 (8) as CSK won by 2 wickets | BCCI/IPLChennai Super Kings (CSK) ended Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) winning run in the ongoing UAE-leg of 14th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) as the former earned a 2-wicket win in match 38 of IPL 2021 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The KKR skipper Eoin Morgan was all praises for CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja as the left-hand batter went berserk when the team needed 26 runs to win in the final two overs.

First and foremost, it was a hell of a game to be part of. Both sides played exceptionally well. CSK managed to get over the line. I don't think I can fault anything from the guys today. They fought hard on a hot day. Unfortunately, it wasn't ours,” Morgan said during the post-match presentation.

There have been a lot of positives from our side in the second half of the tournament, so I think just take the positives from today.. that is to be in the game like we did today to give us the best chance of winning the game,” he added.

The England skipper Eoin Morgan was then asked if whether his decision to go with pacer Prasidh Krishna in the penultimate over cost KKR the game.

Difficult to say (If he would have bowled Russell/Narine for the 19th if the former was on the field). In that situation you need wickets. Sunil is a great option. So is Dre (Russell). We hope he is okay. But Sunil takes on that responsibility with every franchise he goes to. So no better man really,” the left-hand batter said.

The whole tournament there has been an abundance of top-class international players. Some of the Indian uncapped players too have the promise to go on even play international cricket. But when Jadeja plays like that - similar to how Sam Curran plays in the England team - there's not much you can do,” Morgan further added.

The Englishman then opined that he was pleased with KKR’s bowling performance against CSK and also cited the experience coming to a good win over the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

It all has to do with matchups, guys coming in (about bowling his mystery spinners early vs MI and holding them back today). For you to have the privilege of holding them back, the bowlers before have to bowl well. I think today it worked pretty well,” KKR skipper Morgan concluded.

KKR will next be locking horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday (September 28) at Sharjah.
