Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar picked three contenders who can replace Virat Kohli once he steps down as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain. Kohli had announced he would give up RCB captaincy after the IPL 2021.
“Hello everyone, the whole RCB family, the amazing fans of Bangalore, and to all those who have supported us. I have an announcement to make," he had said. Kohli's decision came days after he revealed the upcoming T20 World Cup is his last appearance as India's T20I captain.

Manjrekar feels RCB would look to pick someone who can continue as captain for at least 3-4 years and that rules out the possibility of appointing AB de Villiers for the role.
“How many years could you get out of AB de Villiers as the captain? So I would like to have someone who has at least three years to offer,” he said in an ESPNCricinfo video.
The renowned commentator picked Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, and David Warner as the three contenders RCB could look to get in the upcoming mega-auction.
"Pollard is one guy who has the leadership qualities. Suryakumar Yadav and David Warner are my three contenders," he added.
Pollard and Suryakumar are currently part of the Mumbai Indians squad, while Warner is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad had removed the Aussie as their captain in the first phase of IPL 2021 and handed over the role to Kane Williamson.
A lot of good picks would be up for grab in the next auction as BCCI may not allow more than 2 players to be retained by each franchise. There is going to be an addition of two new IPL franchises for the 15th edition.
