IPL 2021: SRH's Sherfane Rutherford to fly back home after his father passes away

SRH will next play PBKS on Sept 25 in Sharjah.

Sherfane Rutherford | SRH TwitterSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Sherfane Rutherford will leave the franchise and IPL 2021 bio-bubble and fly back home after his father passed away back home, confirmed his team.

Rutherford was brought in by SRH as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow who pulled out of the second leg of the IPL 2021 which began in the UAE from September 19 onwards. The SRH took to Twitter to shares the unfortunate news and offered condolences to Rutherford and his family.

The #SRH family conveys its heartfelt condolences to Sherfane Rutherford and his family on the passing away of his father. Sherfane will be leaving the IPL bio-bubble to be with his family in this difficult hour," wrote Sunrisers Hyderabad on their official Twitter account.

The left-handed batter was in superlative form with the bat in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League and has previously been part of the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians squad in the IPL.

As for SRH, they lost to Delhi Capitals in their first match in UAE and have now lost 7 matches out of 8 played and sit at the bottom of the points table. They will next play Punjab Kings on 25th September in Sharjah.
