IPL 2021: "We couldn’t believe it," Brian Lara not happy with Kedar Jadhav's review

Brian Lara praised the Delhi Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje for his performance against SRH.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a one-sided defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday (September 22). Batting first, SRH were restricted to 134/9 in 20 overs after a brilliant bowling display by DC.

Only Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan could score over 20 runs for SRH. Kedar Jadhav managed only 3 runs in his 8-ball stay before getting out LBW off Anrich Nortje's bowling in the 13th over.

Jadhav took the DRS after being given out by the on-field umpire which surprised the former West Indies captain Brian Lara. He found it an unnecessary call of review by the batter who was plumb LBW.

Lara, speaking on Star Sports, praised Nortje for his superb display of fast bowling before slamming Jadhav for the DRS. "It shows the fact that those guys were playing cricket for South Africa and they came into the IPL in good shape. He is a sharp bowler.

"What is also very important is that he bowls straight and doesn’t give you much room. And that wicket was typical. Straight and plumb," he said.

"Why would he need to review that? To actually go and ask for that referral was unbelievable. We couldn’t believe it. We were like 'what is he doing'," he added.

Delhi won the match by 8 wickets after chasing a below-par target of 135 runs comfortably in 17.5 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored 47* runs, while Shikhar Dhawan (41) and skipper Rishabh Pant (35*) also contributed with the bat.

They are at the top of the points table with 14 points in their nine games.
