IPL 2021: "Best fast bowlers going around," Williamson hails DC's Nortje and Rabada

IPL 2021: "Best fast bowlers going around," Williamson hails DC's Nortje and Rabada

Nortje and Rabada played vital roles in DC's 8-wicket win over SRH.

Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje | BCCI/IPLSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a terrible outing in their UAE campaign opener against Delhi Capitals (DC) as the latter registered a comfortable 8-wicket win at Dubai to regain the top spot on the points table of IPL 2021.

The Hyderabad-based franchise struggled to get going with the bat as the SRH batsmen could only muster 134 runs in their quota of 20 overs. On the bowling front, even though SRH bowling attack is rated highly by many, that wasn’t the case on Wednesday (22 September).

Thus, the SRH skipper Kane Williamson while talking about his team’s struggle with the bat, hailed the DC pacers Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada as the duo ensured that batters are under pressure at all times.

IPL 2021: Cricket fraternity reacts to Delhi Capitals’ clinical outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad

We didn't start well, didn't register a decent partnership but never got any momentum, some good scores in the back-end, but pretty much 25-30 runs short. We did bowl well, we have defended modest scores in the past, but it wasn't to be today which was a bit of a shame,” Williamson said in the post-match presentation.

It's been a difficult campaign so far, but we need to enjoy our cricket and don't put ourselves under pressure - they were excellent, they are both quality internationals, two of the best fast bowlers (Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje) going around at the moment and they put us under pressure,” he added.

The right-hand ace batsman who himself struggled to get going at Dubai, then contemplated about how things would’ve been different had the Orange Army not lost too many quick wickets.

They got us into hard positions, perhaps if we hadn't lost early wickets, we could have done differently, but Delhi were outstanding and played some smart cricket. We need to concentrate on the way we play and try to improve,” the 31-year-old concluded.

After yet another defeat, SRH finds themselves languishing at the bottom of the points table with only one to their name in 8 matches. As far as their IPL campaign is concerned, Kane Williamson and Co. will be taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next match on Saturday (25 September).
