Michael Vaughan, former England captain, reacted to the news of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) player T Natarajan testing COVID-19 positive ahead of his team’s match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on September 22, 2021.
Natarajan has been isolated from the rest of the squad after testing positive during the RT-PCR tests in the morning at 5 am. Along with him, Vijay Shankar and five members of SRH support staff have also been isolated as a precaution for being Natarajan’s close contacts.
The IPL released an official statement about this occurrence on Twitter and confirmed Natarajan’s COVID- positive diagnosis. They also confirmed that since the rest of the squad has tested negative, the match between SRH and Delhi Capitals (DC), will continue as scheduled in Dubai.

As a result, Michael Vaughan took to Twitter, taking a dig at the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) while mentioning the canceled fifth Test between England and India in Manchester.
Indian team refused to play the fifth and final test of the five-match series which was to be hosted by Old Trafford in Manchester after their assistant physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar tested COVID positive on the day of the match. India led the series 2-1.
Indian players mentioned the possibility of someone testing positive during the match period and didn’t want to take any chances given that they had to leave for UAE for the second leg of IPL 2021.
ECB and many former and current England players slammed the BCCI and Indian players for pulling out of the Test match like this and blamed the IPL 2021 for the same as they felt Indian players and BCCI didn’t want to jeopardize its organization.
Michael Vaughan was one of them and now that a COVID case occurred in the IPL 2021, he questioned whether the remainder of the tournament will be canceled like the Manchester Test match, but said that he bets that the IPL will carry on.
“Let’s see if the IPL gets cancelled like the last Test !!!!! I guarantee it won’t be … #OnOn,” Vaughan tweeted.
