IPL 2021: WATCH – Ruturaj Gaikwad’s two audacious strokes for six against Jasprit Bumrah

Gaikwad smashed 88 off 58 balls to take CSK to 156/6 in 20 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad | BCCI/IPLThe second phase of IPL 2021 finally got underway on Sunday (September 19), with Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Opting to bat first, CSK got off to a disastrous start as MI reduced them to 24/4 in the powerplay. The Kiwi pace duo of Trent Boult and Adam Milne did the damage as they shared two wickets each.

Amid the collapse, opener Ruturaj Gaikwad held the one end firmly for Chennai. The right-hander shared an 81-run stand for the fifth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja to bail the team out of trouble.

After Jadeja’s dismissal, Gaikwad stitched an unbroken 39-run partnership with Dwayne Bravo (23* off 8 balls) to take CSK to a competitive total of 156/6 in 20 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 88 off 58 deliveries and his knock was studded with 9 fours and 4 sixes. The highlight of Gaikwad’s innings was his two sixes against MI’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
