Former India pacer Ashish Nehra points out the reason why Mumbai Indians (MI) stay ahead of the other franchises in the competition. MI are the five-time IPL champions and they have won the last two seasons.

Currently, MI are placed at number four on the IPL 2021 points table after having a shaky start to the season. They got back into the flow before the tournament was suspended in May earlier this year.

Nehra said teams like MI and Chennai Super Kings try to tick all of their boxes which makes them strong. "In the last 5-6 years, when have CSK and MI not looked dangerous? It happens very rarely. See, this is a team that has done a lot of hard work to build this side. Have assembled a large support staff.

"They like to tick all of their boxes and that makes this team strong. They back the youngsters but at the same time, value experience as well," he said on Cricbuzz.

West Indies batsman Kieron Pollard has played a huge role in MI's success over the years. He is still capable of snatching the game away from the opponent's jaw and we saw it in the match against CSK this season.

"The role Kieron Pollard has played in the past few years is commendable. The way he carries himself on the field and even along with his teammates is really good to see considering that he is an overseas player."

Nehra talked about all-rounder Hardik Pandya who will be seen bowling in the upcoming matches. It will also clear the picture of his role for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

"All eyes will be on Hardik Pandya once he starts bowling. He has been a little up and down with his firm as of late. Mumbai Indians will be keeping an eye on this as well. When runs come out from Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard it could put even the big teams in trouble," he said.
