Shakib Al Hasan names MS Dhoni captain of his all-time IPL XI; leaves out Gayle, De Villiers

Shakib Al Hasan picked two all-rounders and no specialist spinner.

Shakib, who has been part of the IPL since the 2011 edition, has picked 61 wickets in 66 matches and has made 784 runs, playing for franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was also a part of the KKR squad when they won the IPL in 2012 and 2014.

In a recent conversation with Sportskeeda, Shakib unveiled his all-time IPL XI which saw David Warner opening the innings with Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings), MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), and KL Rahul (Punjab Kings) form the middle-order of Shakib’s dream IPL XI.

Shakib chose to not select AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle in his IPL XI | TwitterShakib then named the mercurial MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings as the captain of his IPL XI. Dhoni was also appointed as the wicketkeeper of the XI. However, the names of AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle were missing from Shakib’s IPL XI, much to the surprise, given their excellent record in the tournament.

Shakib picked Ben Stokes (Rajasthan Royals) and Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings) as the two all-rounders. For the fast bowlers, Shakib went with the likes of Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

There is no specialist spinner in Shakib’s IPL XI.
