Afghanistan stars Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi have joined their franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ahead of the resumption of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) on September 19 (Sunday).
Nabi and Rashid – who last played in ECB's The Hundred –have reached the UAE and are currently undergoing quarantine in Dubai.
Sources within the SRH camp confirmed the Afghanistan stars have joined the franchise and are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine in the UAE before joining the rest of the SRH squad for the second phase of the IPL 2021, resuming on Sunday.
The source also revealed that the SRH team management will take care of the families of both Nabi and Rashid at all times, as they don’t want to leave any stone unturned to keep both the players in a good state of mind for the tournament after the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan.
Speaking to ANI, the source said of Rashid and Nabi: “They are very much in UAE and undergoing quarantine. They are not just professionals, they are family and the team will take complete care of them not just during the tournament but at all times. The management will ensure they are in the best frame of mind and perform to the best of their ability.”
Meanwhile, the players coming in from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021) and the South Africa-Sri Lanka series will undergo two-day isolation before joining their respective team bubbles in the UAE, thanks to their bubble to bubble transfer.
It is being said that the players will undergo isolation and get their COVID-19 test done before they join teammates in the bio-bubbles for the IPL 14 in the UAE.
The source concluded, “The players coming in from the bubbles in CPL and from the SA-SL series will undergo two days of isolation. They will come in and go into their rooms on the first day, they will then get tested the next day and once the results come in, they will join the squad members in the bubble.”
Noteworthy, the SRH will resume their IPL 14 campaign against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on September 22 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai, UAE.
