Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel believes that there would be “jitters” in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore’ (RCB) minds, saying they will look to “start from scratch” in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) in UAE.

The CSK and RCB are ranked second and third respectively in the points table before the 14th season was postponed in May due to the COVID-19 outbreak inside the bio-bubble in India. However, the IPL 14 will resume on September 19 with a blockbuster clash between CSK and MI in Dubai.

The league phase will end on October 8, while Qualifier 1 taking place on October 10, the Eliminator on October 11, Qualifier 2 on October 13 with the final scheduled on October 15.

Parthiv said on the Star Sports show 'Game Plan': “Definitely I think there would be jitters in CSK's mind, there would be jitters in probably RCB's mind.”

He added, “You know we're talking about teams like CSK, they wanted games behind their back, someone like MS Dhoni, like Suresh Raina, Like Ambati Rayudu, like Robin Uthappa, they're not playing cricket throughout the year, but they're just getting into the groove and they got this break.”

Patel concluded, “And teams like RCB you know, they need that momentum to start the tournament which they had, so I think these are the two teams which would be thinking 'Oh okay we'll go again, and start from scratch. This break for teams which are at 4,5,6 they would be thinking that they have a chance to come back and teams who are in the 2nd or 3rd would be thinking that they have to start well again.”
