New Zealand bowling sensation Kyle Jamieson has recently reflected back on his experience of playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) under Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).
Calling Kohli a lovely guy, Jamieson lauded the RCB captain for his fierce nature on the field, saying the Indian skipper is an intense and aggressive player on the field, but off the field, he is a nice and welcoming personality. The Kiwi pacer also said Kohli is very passionate about winning.
Notably, Jamieson was RCB’s most expensive buy in the IPL auction 2021. The 26-year-old was the second-most expensive purchase of the auction with a whopping Rs. 15 crores.
In the first half of the IPL 14, the all-rounder picked up 9 wickets in 7 games and scored 59 runs for RCB, and now he is keen on adapting and developing his skill-set when the tournament resumes on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Jamieson said on Baz and Izzy Breakfast show on SENZ radio: “He is a lovely guy. I have played against him a couple of times and obviously, he is quite intense and quite fierce in the field. But off the park, he is so nice and welcoming. He just loves to win as well. He could be at it on the field and stuff, but he is just passionate about being there, about winning.”
Sharing the experience of his debut IPL season, the Kiwi star said: “It's good to see how different guys work. We have got some good overseas players in our group. So, yes, pretty fortunate to be involved in a tournament like that.”
Though, Jamieson disappointed as he was not able to visit the famous places in India during the first phase of the IPL 2021 due to the COVID-19 protocols.
He signed off by saying, “India was under lockdown when I was there. So we were pretty much in bubbles. I kind of missed out on that experience which is a shame. Hopefully, once this thing gets down, I can get back there and get a taste of what it's really like.”
