IPL 2021: SLC unaware of RCB signing Hasaranga, Chameera- secretary Mohan de Silva

RCB had roped in Hasaranga, Chameera for the remainder of IPL 2021.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera | GettyRoyal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had roped in Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and pacer Dushmantha Chameera as replacements for the remainder of IPL 2021 to be played in UAE.

While the Bangalore-based franchise announced Hasaranga and Chameera as replacements, Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Mohan de Silva on Sunday (August 22) revealed that both Sri Lankan cricketers have neither taken permission from the SLC nor the board is aware of their signings.

I don't know, I have to check. We are under lockdown till the end of the month. We have not taken any decision yet as they will have to apply for the NOCs. We are not aware of these players being selected, neither have they sought permission from us,de Silva told Cricbuzz.

The Hasaranga- Chameera duo was unsold in the IPL auction, held earlier this year. Despite their identical price tag of INR 50 Lakh, the Sri Lankans failed to get any buyers.

The leg-spinner Hasaranga who had a great home T20I series against the Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India as he was the highest wicket-taker and also adjudged as the Man of the Series, was signed by RCB as a replacement for Australia's Adam Zampa.

29-year-old right-arm quick Chameera who also had a great series against India, on the other hand, will be replacing Daniel Sams who is unavailable for the second leg of the cash-rich league which resumes on September 19.

It is learnt that SLC wants its players fully fit for the T20 World Cup 2021, which is set to take place on October-November, and before that, they plan to leave for Oman, where they are planning to play a few games.

Sri Lanka will also host South Africa for three ODIs and three T20 Internationals from September 2 to 14.
