IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) awaits approval to land from UAE authorities

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are still awaiting landing approval from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities for the second phase of the IPL 2021.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has on Tuesday (August 10) revealed that the franchise is yet to receive the landing approval from the UAE authorities. He said the BCCI is working on the matter, as the franchise is hoping to get the approval by Wednesday (August 11).

Viswanathan further said the team is ready and the crew which will fly to Dubai is already in quarantine as per the SOP provided by the BCCI to the franchises, as they are looking to land in Dubai on Friday (August 14) to start preparations for the remainder of the IPL 14, resuming on September 19.

The CSK CEO told ANI, “We need approval from the UAE government to land there and that is something we are waiting for. Our crew is already in quarantine as per the SOP and everyone is ready. The BCCI is looking to get us the approval and we are hoping to get the green signal by tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, the BCCI has decided to do away with the idea of wearing contact tracing devices for the second phase of the IPL 2021, rather, instructed the Bubble Integrity Officers to be with the teams to keep a track of the movements and check if any player tests positive for COVID-19 in UAE.

The board has come up with a 46-page health advisory that lays down all the pointers that everyone associated with the IPL needs to follow in order to ensure the smooth functioning of the league.
