The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly asked all the eight Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to ensure that every member who is set to travel to UAE for the second half of IPL 2021 is fully vaccinated before leaving for the T20 event next month.
The IPL 14 was postponed in May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will resume with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on September 19 in Dubai and all the games will be played in the duration of 27 days in the UAE.
The BCCI wants all the members of all eight franchises traveling to the UAE for the second phase of the IPL 2021 to must have received both doses of COVID vaccination before leaving the country.
A source close to the developments told ANI: “We have been told that all those traveling should have completed taking both the doses of vaccination so that there is no problem once teams reach UAE. The quarantine process is most likely going to be seven days before teams can start training.”
Meanwhile, the BCCI has confirmed that England players will be available for the remainder of the IPL 14, but Australian cricketers’ availability remains in doubt as the Indian board is awaiting confirmation from Cricket Australia regarding the same.
It is being said that the BCCI has already informed all the IPL franchises that they should get an update from all the boards by August 10 on their overseas players’ availability for the IPL 2021.
However, most of the overseas players would be available for the remainder of the IPL 14 in the UAE.
