"He is Maharaja of the franchise," says Brad Hogg on future of MS Dhoni with CSK

MS Dhoni has been the captain of Chennai Super Kings since the inaugural IPL season.

Former India captain MS Dhoni continues to play Indian Premier League (IPL) despite quitting international cricket last year. But with mega-auction to come, the big question is whether Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will retain Dhoni, who has gone past his prime?

Under the captaincy of Dhoni, CSK has been very successful over the years. The franchise has failed to qualify for the playoffs only once under his leadership. They have won three IPL titles as well as the Champions League in 2010 and 2014.

No wonder, when a fan asked former Australia spinner Brad Hogg about Dhoni's future with the franchise, he clearly said the CSK skipper is not leaving them. He called Dhoni the 'Maharaja' of CSK.

"MS Dhoni is not leaving @ChennaiIPL. He is the Maharaja of the franchise. He will transition into a coaching role," Hogg said on Twitter.

CSK had done well in the first half of IPL 2021. They won five matches out of seven with the second phase of the season to be played in September. They had not qualified for the playoffs last season but CSK made a strong comeback in IPL 2021.
