Delhi Capitals (DC) opner Prithvi Shaw reveals that he lost count of balls when he hit Shivam Mavi for six fours in an over during now postponed IPL 2021 and Shikhar Dhawan reminded him that there was one more delivery left in the over.

Prithvi Shaw was in a red hot form in now postponed IPL 14. The swashbuckling batsman amassed 308 runs in eight games at a blistering strike rate of 166. One of the main highlights of his heroics in the tournament was his six fours against Shivam Mavi.

Prithvi Shaw was the second-highest run-getter for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 14 after Shikhar Dhawan and was placed fourth on the Orange Cap list before the tournament was postponed after several players and support staff tested positive for COVID-19.

While recalling his six fours in the first over of the match to Shivam Mavi against KKR, Prithvi Shaw revealed that he lost the count of balls and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan reminded him that there was another delivery left.

"Actually I came to know after the fifth ball that a sixth ball was left because Mavi had bowled the first ball as a wide. So, I was counting that ball as well and it had slipped my mind. So, Shikhar Dhawan told me one more ball is left," Prithvi Shaw told India News.

Shaw said that once he was aware of the situation, he made up his mind to hit the final delivery for a boundary as well.

"Then it clicked me. I had not thought anything while hitting the first five boundaries. But I was definitely thinking about that before hitting the sixth boundary, that I have come close after hitting five boundaries in five balls and should try one more," he said.

Prithvi Shaw further said that he knew where would Shivam Mavi bowl to him and was careful not to hit it for a maximum.

"I knew where exactly Mavi is going to bowl to me. So just when he released the sixth ball, I was ready. I had tightened my glutes and forearm, that whatever happens, I will hit this one. The only thing was that it should not go for a six if I hit it too hard," he concluded.

His heroics in the IPL 14 are likely to earn him place in the Indian squad when they tour Sri Lanka for the T20I and ODI series.
