Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Avesh Khan heaped rich praise on skipper Rishabh Pant for displaying good leadership skills and encouraging teammates during IPL 2021.

Shreyas Iyer’s injury was a big blow for Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 14. In his absence, Rishabh Pant was handed the leadership responsibilities, who had a great start to his captaincy campaign as Delhi Capitals hammered Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets in their first match of the season.

The southpaw didn’t disappoint the fans as he led the team to a top-of-the-table finish in the first half of the season with 6 wins from 8 games.

While speaking to Cricket Next, pacer Avesh Khan lauded skipper Rishabh Pant for displaying good leadership skills. He added that wicketkeeper-batsman rotated his bowlers well and kept encouraging them, keeping the team above everything else.

“He displayed good leadership skills. The result is proof. He rotated his bowlers well. I enjoyed a lot playing under him. His form with the bat was excellent as well. He’s always encouraging us during the team meetings, always keeps the team above everything else," Avesh Khan told Cricket Next.

Comparing the leadership skills of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, Avesh Khan remarked that both are quite impressive as leaders as they advise bowlers to where they should pitch the ball.

"Not much difference though. Both back their players. They are young players and I think both are quite impressive as leaders. Both consult bowlers before placing fields and advise us on where to pitch the deliveries,” he said.

Avesh Khan further said that both he and Rishabh Pant are good friends and their discussions mostly revolve around cricket.

"Rishabh and I are good friends. We spend time together ever after matches, sometimes we have dinner together as well. Our discussions revolve around cricket mostly," he concluded.

Rishabh Pant will be next seen in action when Team India takes on New Zealand in the final of ICC World Test Championship and then later England in the five-Test series while Avesh Khan will travel along with Team India as standby player.
