India was the worst hit country by the second wave of COVID-19. Even some of the players and members of support staff had tested positive inside their bio-bubbles which forced the BCCI and IPL governing council to indefinitely suspend this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

After suspension of the cash-rich league, while all the foreign players, commentators and support staff members began to their journey home, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey had to stay in the country after returning a positive test.

But, according to the latest report, Hussey successfully recovered from COVID-19 and has reached home.

Michael Hussey and the rest of Australia contingent set to land home on Monday

Chennai Chief Executive Kasi Viswanathan told PTI news agency that Hussey, who had been treated in hospital for COVID-19, had left for Australia early on Sunday via Doha on a commercial flight.

Back in super high spirits! Recovered and returned home safe! #WhistlePodu #Yellove,” the official Twitter handle of Chennai Super Kings tweeted along with the photos of the Aussie and bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji, who has also recovered from the virus.

Australia recently lifted the two-week ban on its citizens returning from India considering the country had highest number of positive cases in the world since the pandemic began.

Thus, on Monday, most of Australia's IPL cricketers, including David Warner, Pat Cummins and Steve Smith, arrived in Sydney after passing more than a week in Maldives as they were waiting for the ban to be lifted.
