"Big thing when Anil Kumble compared me to Pollard" - PBKS batsman Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan was bought by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a whopping price of INR 5.25 Crore.

Shahrukh Khan | BCCI/IPLTamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan made an amazing entry to this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) after being bought by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a whopping price of INR 5.25 Crore. The right-hand explosive batsman had showed amazing hitting ability in domestic cricket which led to PBKS head coach comparing him with the Caribbean big-hitter Kieron Pollard before the IPL.

Definitely, that is obviously a big thing when Anil Kumble compared me to Kieron Pollard. But I’m just starting off. So, I feel that I need to create an identity of my own. I want to become what I do, the way I go about, Shahrukh told InsideSport.

Obviously, it’s a wonderful thing that he compared me to Kieron Pollard. He is head and shoulders ahead of me. I’m just starting off. I will get there but him comparing me to Kieron Pollard was pretty good,” he added.

Just like a lot of youngsters, the 24-year-old got a chance to share dressing room with the likes of Anil Kumble and skipper KL Rahul at the Punjab-based franchise.

When asked about talking to KL Rahul, Khan revealed a message he got from the skipper before he went in to bat in his debut season of the cash-rich league.

It was very simple for me. They just told me to go and do what I do for Tamil Nadu and nothing different, nothing else. They told me, ‘You don’t need to do anything differently yet. It’s just a change in name, but the ball, everything is the same. We’ll be very happy with it,” Shahrukh said.
