The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) was recently suspended indefinitely by BCCI and IPL governing council as players and some members of support staff had tested positive for COIVD-19 inside teams’ bio bubbles.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were the first ones to have tested positive for COVID-19. Chakravarthy was officially the first player in this edition of the IPL, who contracted the infection after going for some medical scans.

Whereas, Warrier’s interaction with Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Amit Mishra led to the latter testing positive which eventually suspended the league. Apart from Warrier and Chakravarthy, another KKR player Prasidh Krishna had also contracted the infection.

According to a BCCI official, both the KKR players have returned home after completing their mandatory isolation.

Yes, Chakravarthy and Sandeep have gone home. They have completed 10 days of mandatory isolation. However, KKR as a franchise will keep monitoring their health, the BCCI official told PTI on Monday.

They will undergo RT-PCR tests in Chennai and Kerala respectively,” he added.

Apart from these Indian players, New Zealand’s Tim Seifert who was with KKR this year was another player to test positive from their camp and is still in isolation.
