The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (May 4) decided to postpone the 2021 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) with immediate effect.
The decision came after multiple COVID-19 cases were reported in the bio-bubble of various franchises.
Subsequently, the BCCI and the IPL franchises are doing their bit to arrange the secure and safe passage of all the players and support staff members.
On Saturday (May 8), Punjab Kings (PBKS) informed the fans that most of their cricketers have reached home safely, and some are quarantining outside India.
Similarly, Rajasthan Royals (RR) also updated that their cricketers, support staff and management have left Delhi, and most of them have reached their respective homes.
Taking to Instagram, PBKS wrote, "Following the suspension of IPL 2021, all PBKS team members have reached home safely while a few are quarantining outside India before they head back to their respective countries."

The Sanju Samson-led franchise took to Twitter and wrote, "We are pleased to be able to share that all our players, support staff & management have departed Delhi with negative tests, and the majority are already home."

The IPL 2021 season saw only 29 games being held in four venues – Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi – and there are 31 matches still left to be played.
In order to complete the tournament, the BCCI is looking at a 20-day window with multiple double-headers and it could be held in September after the conclusion of India’s England tour.
