Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has offered to host the remaining part of the IPL 2021, which was postponed after COVID-19 breached the bio-bubbles.
The 14th edition of IPL was indefinitely postponed with 29 of the 60 scheduled games played out. The COVID-19 cases among players and support staff inside the bio-bubble in as many as four teams led to the BCCI being forced to stop the tournament with immediate effect.
With 31 games still left, the board is keen on resuming the tournament later in the year. Some reports suggested that the remaining part of the cash-rich league will be played in the September window.
However, it remains to be seen where BCCI will host the remaining matches will be played. Some reports suggested that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which hosted IPL 2020, could host the second phase of IPL 2021 in September.

The chief of the SLC managing committee, Prof. Arjuna de Silva said that BCCI should not ignore Sri Lanka as a host for the remainder of the season. He further pointed out that Sri Lanka will host the Lanka Premier League in July-August this year. After LPL 2021, they can use the stadiums and infrastructure for IPL 2021.
"Yes, we can certainly provide a window to host the IPL in the month of September. We hear the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is their one option but Sri Lanka can not be ignored for all reasons.
“We are planning to host the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in July-August and the grounds and other infrastructure will be ready for the IPL in September,” Prof. Arjuna de Silva, speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo, told Deccan Chronicle.
Apart from India, only UAE and South Africa have hosted the lucrative league and it will be interesting to see if BCCI agrees to take the IPL to Sri Lanka.
