Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey, who contracted coronavirus during now postponed IPL 2021, has tested negative for the deadly virus but will continue to remain in quarantine.
Michael Hussey and L Balaji were among the members who tested positive for COVID-19 inside the IPL 14 bio-bubble.
The coronavirus cases among players and support staff inside the bio-bubble in as many as four teams forced BCCI to stop the tournament with immediate effect.
CSK were camped in Delhi when the marquee tournament was suspended. With all the players returning to their homes, support staff members Michael Hussey and L Balaji as a precautionary measure were shifted to Chennai by air ambulance by their franchise.

Although Michael Hussey has tested negative for the COVID-19, the Aussie will continue to remain in quarantine in a Chennai hotel until he tests negative again.
Talking about the same CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan informed about the same and said that all the players have flown safely to their homes and head coach Stephen Fleming will board the flight in the next 24 hours.
“He tested negative before getting on an air ambulance from Delhi to Chennai (on Thursday). He is doing fine. All other overseas personnel have left, head coach Stephen Fleming will be flying out tomorrow,” CEO Kasi Viswanathan told PTI.
Giving a health update, Michael Hussey said that he’s resting well and feeling stronger. He further thanked all the fans from both India and Australia for the support they showed him during the tough time.
“I’m resting well and I’m feeling stronger. I’m hugely appreciative of what CSK have already done and are doing for me. It’s horrific what’s taking place in India at the moment with the pandemic and I’ve been blessed with the great support I have received. I’m grateful for all the messages of support from cricket fans in India and Australia,” Michael Hussey told Sydney Morning Herald.
With Hussey testing negative for coronavirus, Australian media outlets reported that he can join fellow countrymen in the Maldives if he returns another negative test.
The rest of the Australian contingent left for the Maldives to serve out the waiting period before they can board a flight to Australia once the travel restrictions end on May 15.
