Rajasthan Royals (RR) ace all-rounder Chris Morris says that BCCI’s decision of suspending the IPL 2021 midway is disappointing but it is the ‘safest thing to do’ as of now.

COVID-19 outbreak in bio-bubble forced BCCI to postpone IPL 14 season, with immediate effect. With Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra returning COVID positive on Tuesday (4th May), the marquee tournament was postponed after 29 games.

Reacting to the postponement of IPL, Rajasthan Royals (RR) took to their official Twitter account and posted a video in which the players of the franchise could be seen sharing their views on the postponement of the tournament.

In the video, Chris Morris said that it was upsetting for everyone that IPL was halted midway but he admitted that the decision to postpone the tournament is the safest thing.

“It’s obviously quite upsetting that we have to end it, but unfortunately these things happen. There’s a lot of people going through a lot at the moment, and that is probably the safest thing to do. Let everyone at home or in India focus on beating COVID because that’s the most important thing,” Chris Morris said in a video posted by RR on their Twitter account.

Morris further saw the positive in the postponement of the IPL, pointing at the already 'hectic' situation. He further gave a heartfelt message to all the IPL fans affected by the virus.

“The positive is that we will get to finish it in the latter stages, so it is probably the right time that they have called it; it is slightly getting a bit hectic now. Stay safe, let’s beat this thing. It is going to be difficult because obviously, it’s spreading quite quickly.

“Stay at home; as soon as we beat this thing, we will be up and running again, and we will finish off with the IPL. You never know what will happen then,” he said.

Coming to the points table, the Sanju Samson-led franchise was placed fifth on the points table, with three wins and four losses from seven games.

With 31 matches still left, the BCCI is considering the September window to host the remaining part of IPL 14.
