A day after two COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) contingent, the team’s batting coach Michael Hussey too contracted the deadly virus, reported TOI.
Hussey's COVID-19 test result came on Tuesday (May 4), hours after BCCI decided to postpone the 2021 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to the report, Hussey's tests are being redone and the management is hoping that he will return negative akin to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan’s case on Monday (May 3).
"Hussey tested positive. But his samples are being redone. Hopefully, the report will come negative," a source quoted as saying by TOI.
On Monday, the entire CSK squad was forced to go into hard quarantine after bowling coach L Balaji and the team’s bus cleaner detected COVID-19 positive. Super Kings had last played against Mumbai Indians on May 1.
BCCI’s decision to postpone the cash-rich tournament came after multiple COVID-19 cases were reported in the bio-secure bubble of various franchises.
Two players at Kolkata Knight Riders, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, also tested positive and as a result, the match between KKR and Royal Challengers Bangalore couldn’t take place on Monday.
"The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect," BCCI said in a media release.
"The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind."
BCCI further said it will do “everything in its powers to arrange for the secure and safe passage of all the participants in IPL 2021”.
