Kane Williamson has replaced David Warner as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the rest of this Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) season. The move has left many fans disappointed and Twitterati started trending '#BringBackWarner' for the Aussie batsman.
Warner was stripped off from captaincy after SRH lost 5 out of their first 6 games in IPL 2021. When SRH walked out to face Rajasthan Royals (RR), not only Williamson was handed over the captaincy, they also dropped Warner from the playing eleven.
Last year Warner guided SRH to a Qualifier 2 finish in IPL 2020, but they have not done well this season. Their chances of playoffs look very low with only 1 win in 7 matches so far.
Fans on social media feel it's highly disrespectful for someone who has done so much for the franchise to get such treatment. Warner had led SRH to a title win in the IPL 2016 and he's also the fifth most run-getter in IPL.
