Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder R Ashwin who had taken a break from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) to support his family during these tough times is said to rejoin the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the last leg of the tournament.
The off-spinner played all the matches for the Capitals in the Chennai leg but did not travel to Ahmedabad with the franchise and had announced a break after DC’s super over win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
“I would be taking a break from this year's IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times,” Ashwin had said after the match against SRH.
As the situation is improving back home, the Chennai-based spin bowler might join his IPL franchise for the last leg of the IPL. The 34-year-old will have to serve a mandatory 7-day quarantine and return negative COVID-19 reports before rejoining the DC bio-bubble.
From what I hear @ashwinravi99 might be back with @DelhiCapitals for the last leg. Things at home are better is what I hear. So glad if that’s the case and I wish him some respite mentally. It will be great to see him back. We need leaders like him.— Boria Majumdar (@BoriaMajumdar) May 3, 2021
Even though Ashwin has missed 5 matches in this season so far, he has never missed an opportunity on social media to remind his fans about the importance of following safety protocols as India has been badly hit by the second wave of COVID-19.
