IPL 2021: Faf du Plessis dropped the game after missing Kieron Pollard's catch- Graeme Swann

Pollard was dropped by Du Plessis on 70.

Kieron Pollard took MI over the line against CSK | BCCI/IPLMumbai Indians (MI) pulled off an amazing chase against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 27 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), thanks to some incredible hitting by all-rounder Kieron Pollard for his match-winning knock of 87* off just 34 deliveries.

It was not a flawless innings by Pollard as CSK's Faf du Plessis who is known for his fielding and incredible catching dropped the MI all-rounder at a crucial stage which costed his side the game.

While talking about Du Plessis’ drop, former England spinner Graeme Swann said, “I don't care what you say about high chases, and incredible strike rates, this (Faf dropping Pollard) was the biggest moment of the game.

Faf du Plessis is undoubtedly one of the best fielders in world cricket, you can't argue that. He never drops anything, especially at the boundary ropes. And he dropped that just shows the pressure that he was in. He dropped Kieron Pollard, and with it, he dropped the game,” he added.

Had Du Plessis caught that there was no way that the defending champions had chased the target down as there was no recognized batsman left to bat after him.

There is no way Mumbai Indians are getting over the line at that point. The ground is too small for Kieron Pollard. When he gave you a chance, it had to be taken. Weird to see that it was Faf du Plessis who dropped the catch and cost the game. I never I thought I would ever see that, the Englishman told Star Sports.

After losing to MI, MS Dhoni and Co. will be taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday (5 May) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
